Repeat Prescriptions

Instead of going around in circles, first to the surgery to order your medication and then back again to pick up your repeat prescription and then to the pharmacy and waiting whilst we make up your medicines, why not let us make it easier for you.

Repeat prescriptions offer many benefits, such as convenience and timely access to necessary medications for chronic conditions.

First-Time Patients

Registration: The patient registers with the pharmacy, providing consent and necessary information.

Ordering the Prescription:

For first-time users, the patient must request their prescription from their GP surgery.

Once the GP issues the prescription and it is received electronically (via EPS – Electronic Prescription Service), the pharmacy can proceed to dispense it.

Repeat Prescriptions (Returning Patients)

Once a patient has used the pharmacy before and has given consent, the pharmacy can:

Order repeat prescriptions directly from the GP on the patient’s behalf.

This makes the process seamless and reduces the need for the patient to contact the GP each time.

Dispensing & Checks

When the prescription is received:

Pharmacists perform all necessary clinical checks.

Medicines are then dispensed, checked, and securely packaged for delivery.

Delivery

Medications are dispatched securely to the patient’s address.

How to order a repeat prescription

If you take medicine regularly, you'll usually have a repeat prescription. This means you can order your medicine when you need it, without having to see a GP every time.

You might be able to ask your pharmacy directly for your medicine if your GP has set this up (repeat dispensing). If not, you'll need to order your medicines through a repeat prescription from your GP surgery.

There are 3 ways to order a repeat prescription from your GP surgery:

Using your NHS account.
Using other online services or apps.
Contacting your GP surgery.
