Our pharmacist will review your travel plans, including destination(s), length of stay, activities, and medical history.

Vaccinations & Advice

You will receive personalised recommendations, vaccinations where required, and advice on staying healthy during your trip. Malaria prevention tablets will be supplied if clinically appropriate.

Recommended travel vaccinations

We offer a range of vaccines based on your destination and an individual risk assessment.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A is a viral infection of the liver that can cause jaundice, fatigue, and abdominal pain. It is spread through contaminated food or water.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver and can lead to liver damage, liver failure, and even death.

Hepatitis A and B combination

Hepatitis A and B are two types of viral infections that primarily affect the liver and have similar symptoms, but different modes of transmission.

Tetanus, Diphtheria and polio

Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection causing muscle stiffness and spasms. Diphtheria is a bacterial infection affecting the throat and airways, sometimes blocking breathing. Polio is a viral disease that can cause paralysis and sometimes death.

Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)

Measles, mumps, and rubella are contagious viral diseases that cause fever and rash (measles, rubella) and swollen glands (mumps), and can lead to serious complications.

Chicken Pox

Chicken pox is a highly contagious viral infection characterised by itchy blisters on the skin, caused by the varicella-zoster virus.

Shingles

Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash and blisters, commonly seen in adults who have had chickenpox before.

Additional vaccinations for high risk travel

These vaccines may be recommended for certain destinations or high risk travel activities:

Typhoid

Typhoid is a bacterial infection with symptoms including fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, caused by ingesting contaminated food or water.

Cholera

Cholera is a highly infectious, waterborne disease caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholerae, and is characterized by severe diarrhea and dehydration.

Meningitis (including MenACWY where appropriate)

Meningitis is a serious infection that affects the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord and can lead to severe complications.

Meningitis B

Meningitis B is a potentially life-threatening infection caused by bacteria that can lead to inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.

Japanese encephalitis

Japanese encephalitis is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitos that affects the brain and can cause symptoms such as fever, headache, and paralysis.

Tick-borne encephalitis

Tick-borne encephalitis is a viral infection caused by the bite of an infected tick, which can lead to inflammation of the brain.

Rabies

Rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects the nervous system and can be transmitted to humans through infected animals.

Dengue fever (where indicated)

Dengue fever is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes, causing high fever, severe joint and muscle pain, and potentially life-threatening complications.
